Hit the Slopes in Canmore, Alberta

CANMORE, Alberta – If you head to the mountains to ski, then you’ve picked the right place to vacation in Canmore.

Boarding and skiing are king during the winter months in the Canmore area.

Boarding and skiing are king during winter months in the Canmore area.

There’s a reason the area hosted the nordic events in the 1988 Winter Olympics. Five world-class ski hills sit within a 40-minute drive of the Canmore/Banff area: Sunshine Village, Banff Mount Norquay, Lake Louise, Nakiska and Fortress Mountain. Whatever your level of experience and skill, you’ll have a wonderful time here.
Excellent cross-country skiing also awaits you in the Canadian Rockies; one highlight is the Canmore Nordic Centre. There’s much more to do in the Rockies in winter than ski – like snowshoeing, photographing ice falls, skating on a frozen alpine lake and dog sledding. You could even head out just to watch the wildlife.
We urge you to be safe at all times. One of the ways to do that is to be aware of avalanche conditions. You can always check on avalanche conditions by clicking here.
