Battlement Mesa, Colorado is a 3,200 acre residential community of about 5,000 people. Wide-open spaces, clean air and great golfing await visitors in this town on a mesa overlooking the Colorado River on the Western Slope.

Beautiful drives through landscapes of mesas canyons lead to Grand Junction to the west and Glenwood Springs to the east on I-70. Both are about 40 minutes away. Stay in nearby Rifle or Parachute for lodging closest to Battlement Mesa

Golfing
Battlement Mesa’s course was named among “The Best Courses in America You Can Play” by Golf Digest for its affordability, challenging greens and great views! Accommodations also available at the golf resort, complete with a 50,000-plus square foot recreation center (with a swimming pool, weight room, tennis courts, racquetball courts and outdoor playground).
Hiking
Battlement Mesa has a mild, temperate climate with an average daytime temperature of 68 degrees. At 5,500 feet above sea level, the climate is also like a high desert with little precipitation. With all the great weather, it’s perfect for being outside under blue skies with perfect pure air.
Cross-country Skiing and Snowshoeing
Grand Mesa is a high plateau on the Western Slope of the Continental Divide 45-minutes west of Battlement Mesa. Exploring the infinite trails will take you on both groomed and ungroomed terrain across this mega mesa. Snowmobiling trails are also plentiful in the area.
Cycling
Mountain bike to your heart’s content in Battlement Mesa. This planned community has paved and unpaved routes snaking their way in and around the area. Join the weekly cycling group for a brisk 45 minute morning ride while you’re visiting!
Skiing near Battlement Mesa
Powderhorn Ski Resort has 600 acres and 1,650 feet of vertical drop. This family-friendly ski resort is on the eastern edge of the Grand Mesa, providing great views of the valley below. And of course Powderhorn has powder- 250 inches annually!

Sunlight Ski Area is also nearby, just 10 miles south of Glenwood Springs, or an hour from Battlement Mesa.
Fishing
The Colorado River is at the foot of the mesa which the town is perched on. Great trout fishing with fantastic views are right there!
Shopping
Downtown Battlement Mesa has a few cute shops that are worth checking out while you stroll the mini downtown. Head to nearby Rifle or Parachute for a true Old West experience, or to Grand Junction or Glenwood Springs for more shopping options.
