Located in the Purcell Range of the Canadian Rockies, in the southeast corner of BC, it is just a few minutes from the city of Kimberley, known as “The Bavarian City of the Rockies.”
Downtown you’ll find shopping and dining in the German-themed Platzl and on the slopes you’ll find plenty of powder stashes.
The resort is spread across 1,800 acres of terrain. It has 80 named runs and glades and plenty of ski-in, ski-out accommodations.
Kimberley has four faces and five lifts. An annual 150 inches (450 cm) of snow falls here each year, allowing for a season that generally runs from early December to mid April.
Kimberley’s terrain park has a beautiful half pipe where you can pretend to be snowboarding great (and 2010 Olympic gold medal winning) Shawn White.
Kimberley is only a four-hour drive from Calgary and Spokane, Washington. The local airport, Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC), is one of Canada’s closest ski-access airports and offers the enjoyable convenience of being only 20 minutes from this winter getaway.
Kimberley is set in the stunning scenery of the Rockies, yet has a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere.
Beginners will love the newly enhanced learning area on North Star Mountain, while intermediate and advanced skiers can enjoy the long blue trails, glades and steep terrain sure to excite any skier or rider.
Cross-country skiing, dog sledding and snowshoeing are just a few of the other fun winter activities at Kimberley.
Evenings brings tons of entertainment, such as night skiing, evening ice-skating, bonfires and live music at the Stemwinder Bar & Grill. Delicious meals can also be found at Kelsey’s Bar & Grill, located at the base of the mountain.
The resort is family friendly, with full-service childcare facilities on-site, as well as a ski and board school with programs and lessons for all ages.
Activities organized by the school include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, night skiing, movies, ice hockey, curling and ice skating!
