Mount Washington is a 5,215 foot-high mountain on Vancouver Island in British Columbia that receives over 413 inches (1,050 cm) of snow per year.
The resort is located in the heart of Vancouver Island near Courtenay and Comox. The vertical rise is 1,657 feet (505 m) at Mount Washington Alpine Resort.
The mountain has 50 trails on 1,600 skiable acres, which are classified as 20% easy, 35% intermediate and 45% advanced. The area is serviced by nine lifts, including a high-speed six-person lift and a high-speed quad.
The Stomping Grounds and Green Zone are the two terrain parks where you can practice your tricks on multiple features.
After the slopes shut down, head to the Ozone Snow-Tubing Park for some après ski fun. Snow tubing is lift accessed and lit with floodlights. If you are into the more traditional après ski cocktail hour, Mount Washington has you covered, with multiple on-mountain options for a hot toddy!
The season usually runs from mid-December to mid-April, conditions permitting. Day lifts run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily. Night skiing is open during part of the season Thursdays-Saturdays from 3:30 to 10 p.m. with additional hours for Christmas and Spring breaks.
The Bradley Centre at Mount Washington has rentals, a snow school and child care facilities. Pick up your gear Friday night before closing for weekend rentals!
The Alpine Lodge is another facility, which offers food like pizza and pub fare.
The Raven Lodge, a beautiful post-and-beam building is located on the edge of Strathcona Provincial Park and where to head for cross-country sking. Over 34 miles (55 km) of world-class machine groomed cross-country trails exist around the resort and through scenic parklands.
Mount Washington is located 25 km west of the Comox Valley, 50 km south of Campbell River and 100 km north of Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island. With the new Inland Island Highway it’s faster than ever to drive here (take exit 130). It’s paved all the way to the top, however, Strathcona Parkway requires good winter tires OR that you carry chains with you. Don’t get stuck in the snow- get here so you can ski in it!
