Hudson Bay Mountain is located in northwest British Columbia, just outside of the small town of Smithers. The majestic Canadian Rockies surround the Bulkley Valley, which is a short flight (less than 2 hours) from Vancouver.
The town of Smithers was founded in 1921 and settled again later by mountain-loving European families. Today, the small ski town’s Main Street is a haven for music and the arts.
Come to Ski Hudson Bay Mountain to experience knee-deep and bone-dry powder, all in providing spectacular scenery that will take your breath away again and again.
There are 36 epic runs at Hudson Bay Mountain, which are serviced by four lifts. The terrain is broken down as 25% novice, 55% intermediate and 20% advanced.
RAYZ is the area’s terrain park. Hit up the park to play around on the flowy rails, boxes, jumps and more!
The average snow depth is between 53 and 71 inches (135-180 cm) and the average temperature is 23 F (-5 C) during the winter season. The ski season runs from November to mid-April.
The base elevation at Hudson Bay is 3,747 feet (1,142 m) and the top elevation is 5,413 feet (1,650 m). The lift-accessed vertical is 1,750 feet (533 m), while the continuous mountain vertical is 3,775 feet (1,151 m). Ski from the mountain’s top all the way to the village!
The village at Hudson Bay Mountain is Swiss Alpine themed, with lots of creative details. Between the uncrowded slopes and the quaint village, it all makes for a perfect ski holiday!

After a long day of skiing, head to Whiskey Jack’s Lounge for an après ski cocktail, hot cocoa or coffees with fine liqueurs by the fireplace. They are open for lunch as well, serving up tasty treats with their very own Hudson Bay Lager. The panoramic sunsets are spectacular from Whiskey Jack’s!
The Aspen Inn & Suites and the Hudson Bay Lodge are two conveniently located accommodations within driving distance to the resort. They are both on Highway 16, about 15 miles (24 km) from the slopes.
To reach Hudson Bay Mountain in northern British Columbia, head west of Prince George four hours or east of Terrace two hours. Hawkair and Air Canada offer daily flights from Vancouver to Smithers. If you’d like to take in the scenery in real time, ViaRail and Greyhound have combinations that can also bring you to Smithers.
