Staying Long Term in the Canadian Rockies’
The Canadian Rockies hold a magic spell over many people. It is hard to understand until you arrive into towns like Banff, Canmore and Jasper and feel the atmosphere around you. Snow capped mountains and smiling faces surround you and immediately the first thought in your mind is ‘oh no I will have to leave here at the end of my holiday!’ Well maybe you don’t have to. Though there are some strange and confusing rules to buy a house in Banff such as the ‘need to reside’ rule, there are no such rules in Canmore, which is officially outside the limits of the National Park. You can buy property or if you would rather take the less stressful way – why not stay in a hotel for a few months of every year for a very affordable price.
It’s something that many a person – Canadian and International – has dreamed about for years. Spending a warm summer or a ski filled winter in the heart of the Canadian Rockies is a very viable dream. One hotel that offers such an option is the Windtower Lodge in Canmore. Tucked away within walking distance of Main Street, Canmore, it has a location to match its classiness. The surprising thing about the Windtower is how affordable it is. The idea of living in a hotel usually brings up images of Rock star’s and actors but for as little as $1100 a month, you can experience it too.
One example of a room on offer is Suite 446 which is over 800 square feet, has two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a parking space, access to outdoor hot tub, 24 hour work out facilities and everything else you have come to expect from a good hotel. When you consider that you might be paying $250 a night for a room in Banff, the reality of this value hits home. Whether you are booking a corporate function for work or are retired and looking to relax amidst the beauty of the Rockies, this is perfect location. Canmore is only 15 minutes to the hubbub of Banff and a short drive to the ski hills too. The staff in the Windtower is extremely friendly and within hours you will feel like it is your home away from home – though probably cheaper! If you fall in love with a person, you would want to stay around them as much as possible. Why not do the same with the Rockies?!
