Planning a vacation to Jasper National Park in the near future? It’s one of the Canadian Rockies best vacation spots, and certainly worth visiting. Here’s some information on great things to do in the town of Jasper. If you’d like to get a peak at the town, check out the Jasper webcam.

1. The Miette Hot Springs

Jasper is the place for Canadian Rockies vacations.

The drive up the Fiddle Valley to the Miette Hot Springs is almost worth it alone. Flowing from the mountain at 54 degrees Celcius, these are the hottest mineral springs in the Rockies. In fact, the water is cooled to a nice 40 degrees as it enters the pools. Besides the hot springs, you’ll find a cafe and gift sho,p two cool pools, award-winning interpretive events and excellent  hiking. To get to the Miette Hot Springs from Jasper, drive east on Highway 16 to the Pocohontas Bungalows at the Miette Road. Here you’ll turn right and follow the road to the end at the hot springs parking area. It’s just about an hour drive from Jasper. Open daily from May to October

2. Jasper Tramway

Jasper’s “peak” attraction gives you an unforgettable view of the Athabasca Valley and Jasper National Park. The best views of Jasper & the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Two tram cars take visitors to an elevation of 7500′ (2277 m) in 7-8 minutes. The Upper Terminal has a gift shop and a licensed restaurant. Hike along prepared trails in the alpine region to the summit of Whistlers Mountain at 8500′ (2500 m). Shuttle service available. Open April 25 – October 12, 2008.
