Banff National Park, Alberta–Roaring waters, white spray, animals grazing on the river bank and towering mountains escorting you as the adrenalin pumps through your body – welcome to white-water rafting in the Canadian Rockies! Rafting the Rockies’ many rivers is one of the most popular activities to do around Banff National Park and its surrounds. Wakpa Wilderness Adventures have provided a new and exciting option for the outdoors enthusiast with its Highwood River Run.

White water rafting is a great way to see the Rockies.

The Highwood River is a class III/IV starting from southern Alberta. It takes anywhere between 3-5 hours on the river to complete and the season runs roughly from May 15th to June 30th. As spring melts all the snow left behind, the Highwood River charges, winding its way through spectacular canyons that create turbulent and awesome waters. The well-trained and friendly guides navigate over rapids with not-so-simple names like Double Trouble and Delirium.

If you want to stretch your time out in this paradise a little longer, you can stay in Wakpa Wilderness Adventures private campground where you can meet your fellow rafters by the fire or enjoy privacy in your own quiet area of the camp. Price wise you are looking at $139 for a full day or $125 if you go mid-week. As far as rafting the Rockies go, this is one trip not to be missed for adrenalin junkies and families alike!
