BANFF, Alberta – We know that sometimes you just can’t see the forest for the trees … and sometimes, you just can’t see the mountains for the, well, mountains. The Canadian Rockies cover a lot of territory, a sprawling panorama of peaks and valleys, glaciers and rivers and lakes, and, yes, lots and lots of trees. There are thousands of kilometers of roads, paved and otherwise, for you to follow, and yet it can feel like you’ll never see even a tithe of what is there to see.
If only you could get a bird’s-eye view … oh, wait. You can! Just climb aboard a helicopter, and your friendly guide will be happy to show you Banff National Park and its surroundings from a vantage point you can’t get anywhere else.
Helisightseeing tours are a wonderful way to introduce yourself to the Rockies, or to see old friends in a new way. Fun, friendly and fast, these journeys through the sky will help you put your ground-side experiences into perspective. Besides, if you think places like Lake Louise are beautiful on foot, wait ’til you get an aerial view!
There are a few things to remember before you take off. First, be sure to bring warm clothing! As you climb, the temperature plummets. You don’t want to be caught in the air unprepared. Also, be sure to have any loose ends secured, especially zips, ties and belts. As for prices, they’re based on a minimum of two passengers, and children under 3 are not recommended. Finally, tours depend on weather conditions being amenable, so you will have to confirm your flight on the morning of departure.
Here are several tours you can take year ’round through Banff Travel:

You’ll have a full 30 minutes to awe at the sight and take as many photos as humanly possible – and, yes, don’t forget your camera!
