Abundant snowfall and mild winter temperatures makes Silver Star Mountain in British Columbia a skiing and snowboarding haven high in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

An incredible 275 inches (700 cm) of snow fall annually on Silver Star’s 115 trails, which are spread across 3,065 acres of skiable terrain.

The season generally runs from late November to mid April. The runs break down to 20% easy, 50% more difficult, 20% most difficult and 10% extreme.

There are a total of 58 miles (93 km) of marked trails at Silver Star. The longest trail is five miles (8 km) long.

The resort has 2,500 feet of vertical drop (760 m) and six lifts to get you up the mountain, with an additional two lifts for tubing.

The terrain park and rail garden at Silver Star is big and progressive. Occupying 16 acres, the fun zone has an assortment of table tops, step up jumps and spines. Not enough metal to grind? Not to worry, there are also minis, flats, rainbows, kinks, wide rails, and boxes.

The trails are open from 8:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, with night skiing from 3:30-8:30 p.m.

Cross-country skiing is also open for daytime and nighttime enjoyment. The 37 miles (60 km) are groomed and track set daily with state-of-the-art equipment. Four kilometers are open past sundown. Optional lift access is available to take you to the upper trails at Silver Star.

Silver Star is the host to many events throughout the season, including the aerial contest, the BC Freestyle Championships, Men’s Day, Ladies Day, Retro Day and the popular Dummy Gelunde, which has guests hurling their homemade dummies down the slopes to win categories like biggest air, best dressed and best crash and burn.
