Battlement Mesa, Colorado is a growing planned community between Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs. On the western slope, this town is on a high plateau above the Colorado River.

Battlement Mesa attractions include the town’s 18-hole championship golf course, which was ranked as one of “The Best Courses in America You Can Play” by Golf Digest and draws golfers from all over. The course is known for its affordability, challenging greens and great views!

Around the golf course, you can stay in a fully furnished one or two-bedroom condo-suite with access to a 53,000 square-foot recreation center, complete with a swimming pool, weight room, tennis courts, racquetball courts and outdoor playground.

Additional lodging near Battlement Mesa can be found in nearby towns Rifle and Parachute.

But not just golfers come to Battlement Mesa. This 3,200-acre residential community is also privy to the area’s beautiful natural surroundings, which allows for fishing in the mighty Colorado or in several recreational lakes, hunting, horseback riding, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, climbing, and even skiing.

Powderhorn Ski Resort is just 35 minutes from Battlement Mesa and has excellent slopes and powder snow. Sunlight Ski Area is also pretty close, just 10 miles south of Glenwood Springs.

Forty-five minutes west of Battlement Mesa there are unlimited miles of cross-country and snowshoeing opportunities on the Grand Mesa, the world’s largest mesa. Explore both groomed and ungroomed trails. Snowmobilers also welcome!

Bicycle enthusiasts can join a weekly group ride in and around Battlement Mesa. April through October, they ride in the morning for about 45 minutes. Hiking groups also explore the area by foot.

Downtown Battlement Mesa is understated and has a small town homey feel, with a few nice restaurants and gift shops. Those looking for a power shopping trip, head to Grand Junction or Glenwood Springs, not too far away heading east or west on I-70.

Authentic Old West charm can be visited nearby in the small Colorado towns of Parachute and Rifle.
