Snowshoes are a great way for photographers to get around during Colorado's winters.

Snowshoes let you explore the Colorado winter landscape without having to wade through waist-deep snow, and are a great way for a Colorado photographer to get around. Many summer hiking trails make for great winter snowshoe trails. Because they disperse your weight over a much larger are than your boots, it’s even possible to cross some frozen rivers and get to places that are difficult to reach in summer.

There are different types of snowshoes available, depending on how you’ll be using them. Smaller ones are great for packed trails, while much larger ones are needed for the deep fresh snow you might find in unexplored areas.

As a winter photographer, I find snowshoes to be an invaluable piece of my gear. They allow me to reach the pristine backcountry scenery and bring home great landscape photographs.
