Revelstoke Mountain Resort has North America’s highest lift-serviced vertical with almost 6,000 feet (1,800 m) of elevation change on the slopes.
Revelstoke is in a remote southeast part of British Columbia, a place famous for its 600 inches of dry powder snow and varied alpine terrain.
Before the resort the only way to experience it was by heli or cat skiing, but now lift skiing is also available with the development of the Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
It is still growing, as it’s in its first years of operations, but is already turning heads with 52 marked trails on 3,032 acres.
When the 4-season resort is completed it will include 100 trails, 20 lifts and 5,000 housing units, 500,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, plus the signature Nick Faldo-designed resort-style golf course.
Currently, the runs are classified as 7% beginner, 45.5% intermediate and 47.5% advanced/expert. The longest trail is The Last Spike at an amazing 9.5 miles (15.2 km).
The overall terrain includes 13 glade areas, groomed cruisers, 5 open high alpine bowls (2 in-bounds, 3 reachable by cat skiing), steep chutes and fall line skiing.
The bottom elevation is at Nelson Lodge at 1,680 feet (512 m). The top lift elevation is at the top of The Stoke Chair at 7,300 feet (2,225 m). The maximum elevation at Revelstoke is at the top of Mount Mackenzie at 8,058 feet (2,466 m).
New amenities at the base of the mountain include the Rockford Wok/Bar/Grill full-service restaurant, retail and rental shops, and lift ticket and skier services. The lift-accessed Mid-Mountain Lodge featuring stunning views, a self-serve restaurant, espresso bar, and deck with a barbeque.
Revelstoke Mountain Resort is the only ski area in the world where you can heli ski, cat ski or ski lift-assisted, all from one base area.
With their group of companies, that include RMR, Revelstoke Cat Skiing and Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing, skiers and snowboarders have access to a total of 515,000 acres of terrain.
The season at Revelstoke Mountain Resort runs from late November to mid-April.
The drive to Revelstoke, British Columbia is one of the most spectacular drives in Canada.
